I don't see how people can claim that Health Care isn't as important as police or firemen or roads. It's a utility, and everyone deserves it. TOOOO many people die from lack of health insurance. Nobody should die from lack of a fire department, just like nobody should die from a lack of health care.

That's interesting. I remember reading John Stewart Mill, and thinking that under his philosophy, we might have public healthcare. If I remember it right, he believes that which is necessary for everyone should be given out by the Government. (Roads, Firemen, Police)

I benefit from free healthcare at the point of delivery from the NHS, and although it cant be all things to all people I am happy that my taxes fund it, not withstanding that the money could be more effectively spent.
It has been un-affordable since 1947, but we still sustain it.
The only analogy that may describe a publicly funded heath care system is that it is similar to declaring war on ill- health.
You have to pump in vast amounts of money until you are victorious. You have to devote huge resources to it until you have achieve your objectives.
the only thing is with a war like this is that it is not a winnable war, thus never ending.
if you can buy that, then you are ready to have a free health system.
If you want to win all you battles then this not for you.
