As insults go, throwing shoes at a TV screen may look impressive as a visual spectacle, but I've always thought it's a bit impractical in that, you're at least one shoe down, or even two down if you get really carried away. Having vented ones displeasure, unless one wants to walk home barefoot, one has to go hunting for ones footwear amongst potentially hundreds of similar looking foot attire. If you were wearing moccasins or Dr.Martin's they might be easy to pick out of a pile but from what I've seen of these types of demonstrations many of their shoes look very alike. At least if you content yourself with merely sticking two fingers up at the screen, your mode of protest is reusable. Many times over in fact. Once you start discarding your clothing the impact is rather lost I feel if you have to go scrabbling around trying to retrieve it, solely in order to lob it once more at the target of your ire. The smart thing would be to train a dog to do the retrieval. Far more dignified.
